SUMMARY:
Plans, organizes, controls, and directs the Skin Care product category in all aspects, with accountability for growing and optimizing the category P&L. Duties of this position include ensuring management of, and marketability for, the current Skin Care product line via pricing, supply chain, brand positioning and product awareness, sales support, and promotional activities. This position will also be responsible for analyzing and understanding the market landscape, allowing for opportunistic category decisions that meet growth objectives. In addition, the Senior Product Manager, Skin Care, is responsible for ideation and project management for new product development, including all phases of the product life cycle (introductory, growth, maturity, and decline). This position requires a self-starter who won' t hesitate to act to drive the Skin Care category forward. Must have the ability to juggle multiple projects, remain organized, prioritize according to category and organizational needs, as well as think critically and develop solutions that will create success. Must also be able to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and communicate updates knowledgeably to company leadership. Prior Marketing experience, specifically in category management, is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Development of strategic goals and metrics to drive both short-term and long-term sales growth within the Skin Care category. • Analysis of market landscape to identify opportunities for products and programs that have features, benefits, &/or attributes that meet the market need. • Lead and drive new product / program ideation and development efforts, working in conjunction with cross functional teams consisting of Sales, R&D, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Finance. • Owner of the New Product Development (NPD) phase gate process. • Analyze internal costs and competitive pricing Client to make pricing strategy recommendations that maximize revenue and gross margin. • Ability to independently (or upon request) query and analyze historical sales data via existing data sources to think critically about trends, draw conclusions, and/or make recommendations about category direction. • Responsibility for analysis and recommendation of rationalization of product line. • Willingness to travel and work with the sales organization to gain market insights and drive success for the Skin Care product line. • Responsibility for training the sales organization, distribution customers, and end users via training at HQ, in the field, or digitally via webinars and e-Learning content. • Ensure projects related to Skin Care category are being completed in a timely manner. • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• BS degree in Marketing preferred, but not required. • MBA preferred, but not required. • 10 plus years of prior experience in product category management is preferred, including market analysis, new product/program development, and internal category analysis. • Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibilities. • Development of, or contribution to, development of category strategic plan, including goals and metrics. • Demonstrated strength in working closely with sales and other cross functional personnel.
