Integrated Talent Strategies (ITS) is seeking a Materials Development Engineer to work in the Richmond, IN area. This is a direct hire position that offers a variety of great benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.
The Materials Development Engineer develops innovative wire and cable materials to meet product solution requirements;supports and implements projects to add features, reduce cost, and/or improve productivity;assists and advises other materials, product, equipment and process engineers on matters relating to materials or processing. This position reports directly to the Materials Engineering Manager.
Supports or implements compound or process development programs to meet new product and Sales/Marketing strategies or requirements. Recommends compounds to Engineering/Marketing for new or specific requirements.
Recommends and approves specific additives to be used in producing polymeric compounds. Recommends and approves the specific purchased compounds to be used in wire and cable production. Obtains applicable technical material information as required.
Supports or implements Cost Reduction Programs through lower cost materials, procedures, and/or equipment.
Makes ecological, health, and safety considerations during the development and changes of compound or processes;reviews current practices for safety;is alert for possible ecological and safety problems in other areas of Divisional operations.
Develops appropriate material testing procedures for raw materials, in process materials, and finished materials. Establishes incoming raw material specifications and quality requirements.
Provides counsel in compounding factors as they affect product performance, requirements, cost, etc., for the Sales/Marketing Department, Product Engineering, Plant Operations Departments, Quality and other engineering groups. What you will bring:
Education –B.S. Degree in Polymer Engineering, Polymer Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other relevant discipline with two to five years work experience in a similar or related field.
Markets –Knowledge of wire and cable materials and processes is preferred, but not required.
Required Skills –MS Office programs, written and oral fluency in English.
