ITS has a client in the Toledo, OH area seeking an Assistant Controller. This is a direct hire role with full benefits including 401k.
Key Responsibilities
• Financial Reporting
• Manage the accounting department in the establishment and maintenance of automated accounting systems to adequately document business transactions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) while minimizing repetitive clerical work.
• Manage the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules to meet external and corporate reporting requirements and with the objective of meeting reporting deadlines within six days of month end.
• Manage the internal management reporting of product costing, departmental manufacturing overheads, and budget variances thereon with the objective of producing a daily income statement.
• Review taxation issues and opportunities and provide supporting documentation to the corporate offices to minimize the tax burden to the company.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
• Provide business analysis to senior management as required.
• Participate in the process of identifying and implementing opportunities for the improvement of profits.
• Participate in the process of quoting new business as a management member with final sign-off authority through submission. Establish and review quoting rates used on the quote calculation worksheets to ensure they will be representative of manufacturing costs.
• Work with the APQP Engineering Department to track projected tooling revenue against commitments to tooling suppliers and record expenditures and customer payments for customer-owned tooling.
• Assist in working capital management through prompt billing of revenues to customers, efficient collection of receivables and resolution of customer differences, control of disbursements, and identification of opportunities for the reduction of inventories.
• Supervise all payroll accounting activities of the company. Prepare and maintain confidentiality with respect to all management payroll and ensure all compensation is appropriately authorized.
• Assist in the establishment and continuous improvement of integrated MRP and financial information systems to provide accurate and detailed data for more effective decision making by the management team.
• Develop Procedures and Work Guidance for accounting staff as necessary to comply with QS 9000 requirements as related to the accounting function.
• Ensure that all accidents are properly reported and accident investigations are completed within 24 hours.
• Perform other duties as directed.
Additional Information
• CPA, CMA or equivalent professional accounting designation.
• Minimum five years experience in an industrial accounting environment.
• Minimum two years experience in the automotive industry.
• Exposure to financial statement preparation and financial reporting issues.
• Exposure to managerial accounting in a complex environment.
• Exposure to internal control systems design and maintenance.
