Job Description

ITS has a client in the Williamsburg, IA area seeking a Senior EHS specialist.  This position is a direct hire role with full benefits including 401k.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure Division' s Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures are consistently applied based on the principles of the Corporate and Divisional Health, Safety and Environmental Policy, as well as being in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations, including OSHA, EPA and IDNR
  • Ensure a safe work environment by coordinating all safety activities to reduce workplace accidents and protect associates
  • Coordinate and attend all meetings and activities of the Division' s HSE Committee and Management HSE Committee
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant management and associates; maintain positive employee relations; listen to issues and concerns and respond (C48) within 48 hours
  • Promote and practice " safety first” by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions within the department
  • Review all accident/incident investigation reports and provide leadership in developing and implementing corrective actions
  • Analyze loss control statistics and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Coordinate the selection of personal protective equipment (PPE) and appropriate fit testing of such items
  • Conduct monthly safety and environmental audits and report results to division management
  • Monitor new and amended legislation and remain current with the latest health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Implement, maintain and report on status of the Environmental Management System per ISO-14001 requirements
  • Monitor Safety Date Sheets (SDS) and ensure they are updated
  • Investigate ways to reduce waste and environmental liability
  • Conduct sampling as required to comply with environmental regulations
Knowledge and Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in safety engineering, ergonomics or a related discipline is preferred, or at least 7 years equivalent experience in an industrial environment
Work Experience
  • Five years' experience in health, safety and environmental field, in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 1 year in a training related position
