Integrated Talent Strategies (ITS) is seeking a Machining Engineer   to work in the Battle Creek, MI area.   This position offers a variety of great benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off. Job Introduction
This position will be responsible from cradle to grave for all new; existing and take-over program launches pertaining to all aspects of machining operations in production aluminum die cast facility.

Major Responsibilities
  • Assist potential customers with design feasibilities to optimize manufacturing and material usage
  • Assist in the development of quotations for piece cost, process flow, development of machining processes and timing as needed
  • Ability to write CNC programs from a blue print or electronic data
  • Propose improvements to operations through manufacturing engineering analysis based on capacity, cost reduction and/or safety
  • Review engineering prints, select appropriate tooling, and create programs for CNC machine tools while achieving quality and cost targets
  • Maintain and update CNC programs, set up sheets and tool lists
  • Work with tooling suppliers to review existing operations to improve quality and cost profiles
  • Implementation of processes including equipment procurement, coordination of installation, process capability prove-out, training, process documentation and production start-up
  • Contribute to the product introduction process with respect to cost estimation, process investigation, schedule development and prototype manufacture
  • Review production problems as they are identified and implement solutions
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Production Manager and all departments
  • Be actively involved in sign-off for machining and checking fixtures
  • Prepare all reports, charts, cost justifications and all other documentation required for engineering records and project
  • Interface through purchasing in the procurement of capital and tooling
  • Interface with equipment manufacturers, tooling and checking fixture vendors
  • Responsible for quoting and implementation of all engineering changes
  • Responsible for supplying all engineering specifications of machining equipment
  • Manage and track the cost of all activities for the programs through all phases and into production
  • Manage and assist customers, vendors and other departments to implement the following:
  • Engineering changes
  • Quality improvements
  • Productivity improvements
  • Cost reduction programs
  • To be part of the team to fill out and complete 7 steps and 8D procedures
  • Participate in Continual Improvement activities
  • Handle confidential information on a regular basis
  • Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
  • Promote and facilitate Open Door process, effective communication and Fair Treatment
  • Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Education
  • 5 years' experience in G-code and conversational programming (full program creation)
  • Able to read and interpret GD&T
  • Able to read and interpret CMM reports
  • Ability to make process adjustments based on CMM reports
  • 3 years' experience 5 axis machining
  • Ability to use analog measurement devices to determine part conformance
  • Able to perform job set up functions
  • Lean CNC principles (pre-set tools, quick change over practices, tool optimization)
  • Successful candidate should have experience in aluminum alloy machining, CNC programming, tooling, fixture build and
  • design, CAD, project management and machine capability studies
  • Good organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact
  • Motivated to excel at job of Machining/CNC Engineer, learn and advance
  • Minimum of 5 years machining background
  • CAD/CAM experience preferred
  • Statistical analysis preferred
  • CNC maintenance procedures preferred
