Job Description

Integrated Talent Strategies is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a full-time permanent position with a large Fortune 500 client in Cleveland, Ohio. This is a hybrid role that is 3 days in the office and 2 days remote and has an employee Pension plan, 6% 401k match, and great Healthcare benefits.

This position is responsible for completing and coordinating electrical design, analysis, and calculations from preliminary engineering and detailed design to construction, successful start-up, and acceptance by operating management. This role will help serve as a subject matter expert to design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for manufacturing purposes. The area of focus for electrical design and power distribution would be low to medium voltages.     Engineering Design
  • Coordinates electrical design and implementation of projects from preliminary engineering and detailed design to construction, successful start-up, and acceptance by operating management at site.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for manufacturing purposes. Area of focus for electrical design and power distribution would be low (<1000V) to medium voltages (1000V –35kV).
  • Performs Electrical design, analysis, and calculations, using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
  • Proficient in Computer Aided Design (CAD) Programs and other related software.
    • Developing a variety of designs and diagrams within select fields of disciplines (Electrical, Block, Schematic Circuit, Single-Line, Wiring, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams {P&ID's}, Equipment Layout and overall Site Layout Drawings, Elevation and Plan views, detailed piping designs, isometric schematics, etc.)
  • Develop detailed Functional Specifications and Scope of Work documentation for electrical design and power distribution for construction projects.
  • Originate CAD bid packages
    • Development and creation of Engineering Drawings and specifications from conceptual through approved for construction within specific fields of expertise.
      • Ideal candidate will have knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques and a working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and best practices. Other related projects would include but not be limited to storage/mixing tanks, piping systems, HVAC systems and/or dust collection.
  • Project Cost Estimating
    • Deliver FEL 1, FEL 2 and FEL 3 Level Cost estimates for assigned work
  • Solving of Moderately complex engineering problems.
    • Utilizing technical expertise & experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Integration of Operational, Manufacturing and Quality requirements into electrical designs.
  • Investigation of State-of-the-art technology
    • Accommodation of expansions or addition of new technologies into electrical design of new processes, equipment, and facilities as part of a larger project.
  • Maintain technical expertise and high-level proficiency in CAD packages.
    • Skills including Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Layer and Nomenclature Management, Serve as technical support of Software, and related hardware.
    • Utilizing Global Supply Chain Engineer Services standards for CAD drawing (templates, numbering systems, etc)
    • Assist field personnel to assure compliance to departmental standards and basic CAD competencies.

Project Management
  • This role includes the use of a variety of problem solving and Project Management methodologies.
    • Incumbent facilitates division-level programs and is a member of project teams to ensure the successful completion of project objectives while pursuing improvement projects.
    • Manages multiple Design and Continuous Improvement projects driving milestones achievement.
    • Works with GSC sites to develop detailed cost estimates for specific design components of projects.
  • Key member of cross functional, Global Supply Chain project teams
    • Works on teams of 1-6 people during all stages of the project life cycle.
    • Assists Project Managers in the development of end-date schedules of assigned projects through development, implementation and works to ensure critical-path of project schedules.
  • Offers guidance, directing the efforts of outside contractors and engineering companies on major capital projects (up to $250K).
    • Annual portfolio of projects targeting $1, 000, 000.
  • Conducts and leads contractor pre-bid walk-through when appropriate.
  • Coordinates work with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, civil / structural, geotechnical.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations to skilled trades contractors at the beginning of construction in the field and then again, as required, through to successful completion of the project.
  • Participates in new process or facility commissioning and start-ups.


Engineering Services Consultant
  • Has thorough knowledge of electrical design, distribution, and engineering techniques.
  • Prepares electrical engineering calculations, engineering plan/designs, project specifications, project proposals, and project cost estimates.
  • Evaluates and assists efforts in qualifying equipment vendors and contractors minimizing faulty construction, time delays, and lawsuits.
  • Assists in the development Standard Operating Procedures for operator and maintenance staff training at the site. Facilitating turn-over of processes and equipment to plant operating and maintenance personnel.
  • Recommends electrical contractors and equipment vendors for projects.
  • Supports the development of divisional engineering standards to help drive a culture of safety and standardization.
  • Provides input on electrical related project purchases.
  • Leads Factory Acceptance Testing activities for selected equipment at vendor's facility.
    • Coordinates equipment/component deliveries to meet project timelines.
    • Approves and qualifies equipment/components for delivery to site.
    • Presents electrical designs during peer review of drawings and other technical documentation prepared by incumbent or others to ensure correctness and accuracy in form, fit and function.
    • Obtains quotations from vendors on specified electrical equipment.
    • Analyzes performance of selected equipment or contractors used on assigned projects to control quality of work.
    • Provides CAD-based design and cost estimates for special projects.
    • Provides engineering related designs and consulting as a key member of the project team for major capital and Continuous Improvement projects.
    • Provides consultation to Plant Engineers.
    • Develops electrical drawings and specifications that are incorporated into Global Supply Chain Engineering Services Standards and recommended Best Practices.

FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial) or equivalent experience
Preferred:
  • Professional Engineer Certification
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt Certification
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of general safety engineering
  • Experience interacting with senior level employees
  • Proficient with AutoCAD software

Preferred:
  • 3 to 7 years of relevant engineering experience (Electrical Engineering) with a sound knowledge of manufacturing
    • Experience outside of core discipline of Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 3D, Revit, Navisworks and EasyPower or other similar modeling software
  • Experience in working with cross functional teams
  • Comfortable with the Stage-Gate process and managing multiple projects at different stages within the project life cycle
  • Ideal candidate takes independent action - Implements new ideas or potential solutions without prompting;does not wait for others to act or to request action.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools such as Lean or Kaizen
